Deone Quist
Executive Director
Deone joined the VIA team in February 2024. Prior to that, she worked in child welfare and a variety of higher education settings. She is grateful for the different seasons of life that have opened up space for applying her vocation in these professional contexts, as well as in family life, the church and extended community. Deone enjoys time with family and friends, offering spiritual direction to individuals, spending time in the outdoors, exploring new places, reading, music, and an excellent cup of coffee.
Deone lives in Boulder, CO with her husband, Mark. They are partners in parenting/grandparenting, neighboring, discipling, hosting people in their home, playing music, going on tandem bike rides, kayak river floats, hiking, and road trip adventures. They love being married and are passionate about encouraging others towards a healthy marriage.
Deone is excited to serve within an organization that seeks to embody the core Christian mission of loving God and neighbor. She is passionate about nurturing the ongoing health of VIA, advancing the mission, and innovating the path forward for the organization.
Cathy Van Donselaar joined our team in October 2024. She has lived in the Denver area all of her adult life. Her husband, Mike and her have four grown children and are now experiencing life as empty nesters. Mike and Cathy enjoy bicycling together and watching their granddaughter. After a long teaching career, she is excited to be part of the VIA team as a Faith in Deed Program Coordinator. Cathy has volunteered in various ways with VIA since 1988 and has loved the mission of Volunteers in Action. She has enjoyed being a friend to two Faith in Deed Friends, and know how precious the relationship can be. She is looking forward to facilitating these friendships in which physical and emotional needs are met.

Karen Waanders
Karen joined the VIA team in in May, 2022. Before that, she worked in an elementary school library for 16 years, and prior to that worked as a social worker, managing the health care needs of seniors in the Denver community.
Karen and her husband, Jeremy, have 3 adult children and enjoy vacationing in the Colorado mountains. Karen loves to read, visit with friends and family, and take long walks.
Karen is excited to work for an organization that makes such a tangible difference in the lives of people in our community by sharing Christ’s love through connection with Christian volunteers.
Cathy joined the VIA team in May 2023. She and her husband enjoy semi-retirement, traveling to visit family and friends, and being grandparents to 4 lovely grandchildren.
She is excited to work for an organization that helps lonely and isolated individuals find the support, fellowship and help they need from loving Christian men and women.
Maria Pfundt DeBoer joined the team in October 2024. She recently graduated from Calvin University with her bachelors in Psychology, and Recreational Therapy. She is excited to work with VIA part time as she pursue her Ed.S. in School Psychology at University of Denver.
She is originally from Petersburg, Alaska and grew up commercially fishing for salmon, halibut, black cod, and dungeness crab. At Calvin she was on the swim team which accounted for the majority of her free time outside of class. She moved to Denver this summer after getting married and is looking forward to all of the recreational opportunities that CO provides.
Maria’s role at VIA as Kids Hope Program Coordinator is multi faceted. She will serve as the point person for all of the Kids Hope volunteers' questions and concerns. She will also act as a liaison with Kids Hope as VIA enters into partnership with them.

The Foundation allows VIA to grow and increase its ministry, with continued support from its member churches.
The Foundation enables VIA to respond to more needs – to not only care for the symptoms of poverty but to begin addressing its causes.
